On the class wiki site, post your favorite new Web 2.0 tool that has not been covered in detail in this class that you have discovered in this course or elsewhere. List the URL, what the tool is, and why you find it useful using the wiki template page. No duplication allowed-each page must be an original new tool. This can be done after reviewing the Unit 9 material, which covers more Web 2.0 resources.

Title of Site:
Animoto
URL:

Description of Site:
Describe in detail what the site does, what service(s) it provides, and how it does so. In addition, cover the following items in your description in narrative form.
This is a free website called Animoto that allows you to create short videos that teach, explain, or illustrate something. You can add music and titles to the frames, which can consist of pictures and/or videos. There are great transitions that make the presentation look very professional. The site can be used by teachers or students. I do not see ads anywhere. It is appropriate for use in schools. I've seen other teachers in various grade levels (elementary through high school) use this tool on their Wiki spaces to show parents what the students did during a particularly interesting lesson.
Educational Uses of Site
I have started using it and have posted a couple new videos on our YouTube channel (webbasts). An article I read online (www.edutopia.org/blog/using-video-in-classroom-ron-peck) shows how you can get students to create their own short videos to describe or explain something. I can do this one day with our netbooks. They will need to create their own accounts and then make videos using pre-loaded images and pictures we can take ourselves.
Review of Site
I find this website very useful and easy to use. I can access any videos I've made because they are stored on the site privately. I've been making school videos for years and I'm always looking for ways to make them look better. This site has provided me with that and a way to use it with my students in class as well. Everyone thinks our new videos look more professional because of this tool.
